The game between closely ranked teams ended with 13th ranked Basquet Mallorca's (14-18) home loss to twelfth ranked Girona FC (16-16) 73-81 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-73. The winners were led by point guard Ignacio Ordin (183-78) who scored that evening 30 points and Latvian power forward Rolands Freimanis (207-88, agency: Players Group) supported him with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Girona FC players scored in double figures. Girona FC's coach Zan Tabak allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 21 points and 4 steals by American forward Shaun Green (203-87, college: Utah, agency: Limelight Hoops) did not help to save the game for Basquet Mallorca. Fijian guard Marques Whippy (196-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) added 8 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. Girona FC moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Caceres and Palencia. Newly promoted Basquet Mallorca dropped to the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. Girona FC will meet at home higher ranked CB Clavijo (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Basquet Mallorca will play against Caceres 2016 (#10) and hope to secure a win.
