Regular Season Round 28: Segle XXI - Gernika 66-69 OT

Everything went according to plan in Barcelona where eleventh ranked Gernika (11-14) edged 14th ranked Segle XXI (4-22) 69-66 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime then Segle XXI managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Gernika who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 5-2. American forward Tynikki Crook (185-89, college: Marshall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Alysha Harvin (178-88, college: Florida St., agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Yaiza Rodriguez (163-95) produced 19 points and forward Maria Arrojo (186-85) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Segle XXI's coach Ramon Jordana tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Gernika moved-up to tenth place in Group B. Loser Segle XXI keeps the fourteenth position with 22 games lost. Gernika will face Palma (#15) in Palma de Mallorca in the next round where they are favorite. Segle XXI will play on the road against Cravic Reus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
