Regular Season Round 31: Clermont - Sorgues 88-96

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Sorgues (18-13) defeated on the road 15th ranked Stade Clermont (8-23) 96-88 on Saturday. Stade Clermont trailed by 22 points after 3 quarters before a 28-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 88-96 at the end of the game. Sorgues looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for Serbian forward Slobodan Ocokoljic (204-80, college: Weber St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Samir Mekdad (188-86) helped adding 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Sorgues players scored in double figures. At the losing side Bulgarian swingman Simeon Naydenov (201-81, college: Louisville, agency: Global Sports Plaza) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Bianco Matanga (188-87) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Sorgues maintains eighth place with 18-13 record. Stade Clermont lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 23 games lost. Sorgues will meet at home league's leader Saint-Quentin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stade Clermont will play against Chartres (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
