Second Stage Round 8: Residence - Musel Pikes 80-68

The most important game in the last round took place in Bereldange between third ranked Musel Pikes (14-12) and fourth ranked Residence (13-13) on Saturday night. Musel Pikes was defeated by Residence on the road 68-80. The game was mostly controlled by Residence. Musel Pikes managed to win third quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. U.S. Virgin Islands forward Jerome Gumbs (194-82, college: USF) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. American forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Guy Schmit (187-80) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) added 12 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Musel Pikes. Musel Pikes' coach Frank Baum rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Residence maintains fourth position in League with 13-13 record. Musel Pikes at the other side keeps the third place with 12 games lost. Residence are looking forward to face Etzella (#6) in Ettelbruck in the next round. Musel Pikes will play at home against the league's leader T71 in Dudelange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
