Eighth-ranked Oita Heat Devils (19-27) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (32-14) on Saturday. The visitors from Mikawa managed to secure only three-point victory 93-90. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Oita Heat Devils won third quarter 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamamatsu Phoenix looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated the game. Forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic, agency: Dynamics Global Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. Guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh, agency: VVG Sports) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Ryuji Kawai used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV, agency: Top Notch Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA, agency: Top Notch Sports) added 21 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Oita Heat Devils. Five Hamamatsu Phoenix and four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 32-14 record. Oita Heat Devils at the other side keep the eighth position with 27 games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Oita Heat Devils will play again at home against the league's leader Hamamatsu Phoenix (#1) in Mikawa and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
