Regular Season Round 25: Marghera - Biassono 58-68

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Biassono (7-17) won against higher ranked Marghera (12-11) in Venezia 68-58 on Saturday. Marghera was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 22-10 charge of Biassono, which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Biassono forced 22 Marghera turnovers. Marghera was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Antonella Contestabile (187-87, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Sara Canova (174-89) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Biassono's coach Valerio Signorini used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Claudia Pellegrino (183-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Erika Striulli (171-90) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Marghera. Biassono maintains thirteenth place in North with 7-17 record. Marghera at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Biassono will face higher ranked San Martino (#3) in San Martino di L in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
