Regular Season Round 53: Toyama Grouses - Osaka Evessa 81-85

The game in Toyama was also quite interesting. Second ranked Osaka Evessa (32-15) played at the court of 5th ranked Toyama Grouses (24-23). Osaka Evessa managed to secure a 4-point victory 85-81 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Strangely Toyama Grouses outrebounded Osaka Evessa 41-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. American forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and guard Cohey Aoki (167-80) accounted for 22 points. American swingman Brian Harper (206-85, college: Paine, agency: Pro One Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: SDJ Sports) added 15 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for Toyama Grouses in the defeat. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Osaka Evessa maintains second place with 32-15 record having four points less than leader Hamamatsu P. Loser Toyama Grouses keep the fifth position with 23 games lost. They share it with Sendai 89ers. Osaka Evessa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyama Grouses will play again against the league's second-placed Osaka Evessa (#2) and hope to secure a win.
