Regular Season Round 26: B.C. Habikaa - Maccabi Ashdod 87-70

We should mention about the upset which took place in Habikaa, where 6th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (11-12) lost to ninth ranked B.C. Habikaa (9-14) in a road game 70-87 on Sunday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when B.C. Habikaa's pressure prevailed and they won that period 28-14 extending their advantage to 17 points. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Frank Robinson (193-84, college: CS Fullerton) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import forward Troy Gillenwater (205-88, college: N.Mexico St.) chipped in 18 points. B.C. Habikaa's coach Avi Ashkenazi used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and the former international point guard Meir Tapiro (192-75) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. B.C. Habikaa moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Elitzur Netanya. Loser Maccabi Ashdod keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. B.C. Habikaa will face Elitzur Netanya (#9) on the road in the next round.
