There was no surprise in Sassari where 11th ranked Fabi Shoes Montegranaro (11-16) was edged by fifth ranked Banco di Sard. (17-10) 79-77 on Sunday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-77. American-Georgian swingman Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St.) stepped up and scored 17 points for the winners and American guard Drake Diener (196-81, college: De Paul, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Banco di Sard.'s coach Romeo Sacchetti used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Sean May (206-84, college: N.Carolina) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Coby Karl (196-83, college: Boise St., agency: Priority Sports) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Banco di Sard. moved-up to third place, which they share with Armani Mit and Scavolini PS. Fabi Shoes Montegranaro at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Banco di Sard. will face Scavolini Pesaro (#4) on the road in the next round. Fabi Shoes Montegranaro will play against Vanoli-Braga (#15) in Cremona.
