There was a minor upset when second-ranked Bennet Cantu (18-10) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Armani Milano (17-10) 72-64 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-64. Greek center Ioannis Bourousis (212-83, agency: FCM) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and swingman Alessandro Gentile (197-92) chipped in 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Georgian guard Manuchar Markoishvili (196-86) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American-Swiss power forward Greg Brunner (201-83, college: Iowa) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Armani Milano have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Scavolini PS and Banco di Sard. Bennet Cantu at the other side keeps the second position with ten games lost. Armani Milano will face Air Avellino (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bennet Cantu will play against Cimberio Varese (#8).
