Rather expected game when 5th ranked Orvieto (16-8) lost on the road to third ranked C.U.S. Chieti (19-5) 57-48 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. C.U.S. Chieti dominated on the defensive end, holding Orvieto to just 5 points in second quarter. They also forced 21 Orvieto turnovers and outrebounded them 35-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for the former international center Elisa Silva (192-88) who helped to win the game recording 15 points. International power forward Federica Tognalini (183-91) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Licia Filippetti (185-86) answered with 10 points and 6 rebounds and Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Orvieto. Four Orvieto players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for C.U.S. Chieti. They maintain third place in South with 19-5 record having just three points less than leader Ragusa. Orvieto at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. C.U.S. Chieti will face Consum.it Siena (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Orvieto will play against Viterbo (#13).
