Tenth-ranked Coras de Tepic (1-22) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Frayles de Guasave (11-12) on Friday. The visitors from Guasave managed to secure only two-point victory 91-89. However their fans expected much easier game. Coras de Tepic trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 29-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 89-91 at the end of the game. Frayles de Guasave made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Russell Carter (196-85, college: Notre Dame) who scored 30 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Moore is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Center Deangelo Riley (205, college: Azusa Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 blocks and forward Ray Reese (196-87, college: Tulsa, agency: David Lee services) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Frayles de Guasave. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Los Mochis. Coras de Tepic lost their fifth game in a row. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Frayles de Guasave will have a break next round. Coras de Tepic will play again at home against Frayles de Guasave (#6).
