Rather predictable result when second ranked Yokohama BC (29-21) beat at home 5th ranked Sendai 89ers (25-25) 63-54 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sendai 89ers won third quarter 14-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Justin Burrell (206-88, college: St.John's) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul, agency: Top Notch Sports) chipped in 13 points. Yokohama BC's coach Reggie Geary allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Johnny Dukes (203-84, college: San Bernardino CC) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Daniel Fitzgerald (206-84, college: Marquette) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Yokohama BC. They maintain second place with 29-21 record having four points less than leader Okinawa GK. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the fifth position with 25 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
