Very important is a road loss of third ranked Akita Happinets (28-23) against ninth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (16-33) on Saturday night. Visiting Akita Happinets were defeated by Iwate Big Bulls in a tough game in Iwate 79-84. Akita Happinets were ahead by 6 points at the halftime before a 50-39 second half run of Iwate Big Bulls. Worth to mention a great performance of Guyanese-American forward Gordon Klaiber (206-83, college: Fair Dickinson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Makoto Sawaguchi (184-91) contributed with 24 points for the winners. American swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Kazuhiro Shoji (191-74) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Akita Happinets. Iwate Big Bulls maintains ninth place with 16-33 record. Akita Happinets at the other side keep the third position with 23 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will again play against higher ranked Akita Happinets (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akita Happinets will have a break next round.
