Very expected game when 13th ranked Otto Caserta (11-17) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked CS Bologna (16-12) 84-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by CS Bologna. Otto Caserta managed to win second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CS Bologna dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Otto Caserta's 36. They outrebounded Otto Caserta 41-23 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Finnish guard Petteri Koponen (194-88) scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Angelo Gigli (209-83) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Andre Smith (203-85, college: N.Dakota St.) with 12 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian-Dutch forward Aaron Doornekamp (198-85, agency: Interperformances) scored 13 points. Five CS Bologna and four Otto Caserta players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CS Bologna maintains seventh position with 16-12 record. Loser Otto Caserta dropped to the fourteenth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Fabi Shoes. CS Bologna will meet bottom-ranked Novipiu CM (#17) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Otto Caserta will play against Umana Venezia and hope to secure a win.
