Guests from Leiden (2-0) smashed host Leeuwarden (0-2) 87-55. The game was mostly controlled by Leiden. Leeuwarden was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leiden dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Leeuwarden's 28. They outrebounded Leeuwarden 45-18 including a 36-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Canadian forward Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 8 rebounds. The former international power forward Patrick Hilliman (206-82, college: High Point, agency: R.H.Consultancy) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. Four Leiden players scored in double figures. American guard Brandon Rozzell (187-89, college: VCU) answered with 14 points and the other American import guard Lance Jeter (190-88, college: Nebraska) added 10 points and 4 steals in the effort for Leeuwarden. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place in Group A with 2-0 record. Leeuwarden at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. Leiden will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Leeuwarden will play at home against the league's second-placed Den Bosch and hopes to get finally their first victory.
