The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Cocodrilos (1-1) in Caracas on Wednesday night. Hosts were edged by Guaiqueries (1-1) 76-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cocodrilos. It was a key game for the top position in Group B as both teams had the same 0-1 record before this meeting. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cocodrilos won fourth quarter 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guaiqueries held Cocodrilos to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. American center Christopher Jackson (208-81, college: N.Mexico St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Richard Lugo (209-73, college: St.Francis, NY) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. Guaiqueries' coach Carlos Mercado used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Italian-Uruguayan guard Leandro Garcia Morales (186-80, college: Texas A&M) responded with 19 points and international power forward Windi Graterol (203-86) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Guaiqueries used an opportunity after Cocodrilos lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position in Group B which they share with defeated Cocodrilos. Guaiqueries is looking forward to face Bucaneros (#3) in La Guaira in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cocodrilos will have a break next round.
