Regular Season Round 33: Roche - Le Puy 86-62

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Roche (23-9) outscored at home 17th ranked Le Puy ASMB (5-28) 86-62. The game was mostly controlled by Roche. Le Puy ASMB was better in second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Roche forced 19 Le Puy ASMB turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for guard Benjamin Thomas (181-82) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Bahamas power forward Lavar Simmons (201-83, college: Master's) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Roche players scored in double figures. Forward Yohann Smail (197-90) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and guard Remi Martin (189-82) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Le Puy ASMB. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Roche. They moved-up to fourth place. Le Puy ASMB lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with 28 games lost. Roche's next round opponent will be Rueil (#14) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Le Puy ASMB will play against CFBB in Paris and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
