Seventh-ranked Shinshu BW (18-33) gave a tough game to first ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (36-15) in Nagano on Saturday. The visitors from Mikawa managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 13 points after three quarters before their 30-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Hamamatsu Phoenix forced 20 Shinshu BW turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh, agency: VVG Sports) stepped up and scored 24 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic, agency: Dynamics Global Management) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Hamamatsu Phoenix have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 36-15 record. Shinshu BW lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 33 games lost. They share it with Iwate Big Bulls and Chiba Jets. Hamamatsu Phoenix will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shinshu BW will play again at home against the league's leader Hamamatsu Phoenix (#1) in Mikawa and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
