There was an upset when 4th placed Niigata Albirex (27-24) was edged on the road by tenth ranked Saitama Broncos (16-35) 75-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 1 point. The game was also dominated by American players. Swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Court Side) stepped up and scored 32 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Jayme Miller (203-85) chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Niigata Albirex's coach Matt Garrison rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Saitama Broncos maintains tenth place with 16-35 record. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the fourth position with 24 games lost. Saitama Broncos will face again higher ranked Niigata Albirex (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
