Rather expected game when 10th ranked Coras de Tepic (2-24) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (10-16) 94-85 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 32-11. But Coras de Tepic won second period 30-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was forward Rob Robinson (203-87, college: Robert Morris, agency: SDJ Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Mychal Henderson (198-85, college: Ks Wesleyan) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Henderson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. Center Deangelo Riley (205, college: Azusa Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and forward Ray Reese (196-87, college: Tulsa, agency: David Lee services) added 19 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caballeros de Culiacan maintains eighth position with 10-16 record. Loser Coras de Tepic stay dead last with 24 lost games. Caballeros de Culiacan will meet higher ranked Mineros de Cananea (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Coras de Tepic will play against the league's second-placed Ostioneros de Guaymas (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
