Very predictable result when tenth ranked Assignia Manresa (15-17) edged at home 17th ranked Asefa Estudiantes (9-22) 78-75 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Asefa Estudiantes was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Assignia Manresa shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and Ukrainian swingman Sergii Gladyr (196-88) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Center German Gabriel (207-80) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and British power forward Daniel Clark (210-88, agency: Interperformances) scored 18 points. Four Asefa Estudiantes players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Assignia Manresa maintains tenth position with 15-17 record, which they share with FIATC Joventut and Unicaja. Loser Asefa Estudiantes keeps the seventeenth place with 22 games lost. Assignia Manresa will face UCAM Murcia (#16) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Asefa Estudiantes will play against Blancos de Rueda in Valladolid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
