Very predictable result when second ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (22-6) rolled over at home bottom-ranked Coras de Tepic (2-26) 99-74 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ostioneros de Guaymas. Coras de Tepic was better in third quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ostioneros de Guaymas shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American players dominated also this game. It was a very good performance for forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. point guard Myron Allen (182-79, college: Lee JC) contributed with 8 points and 11 assists for the winners. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach LaSelle Taylor felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Deangelo Riley (205, college: Azusa Pacific) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and forward Ray Reese (196-87, college: Tulsa, agency: David Lee services) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Coras de Tepic. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 22-6 record having just two points less than leader Hermosillo. Coras de Tepic lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 26 lost games. Ostioneros de Guaymas will face Garra Canera de Navolato (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Coras de Tepic will play against Mineros de Cananea.
