There was a surprise result in Santoago de Comp where fifteenth ranked Blusens Monbus (12-21) defeated higher ranked Valencia Basket (19-14) 76-62 on Wednesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Blusens Monbus's pressure prevailed and they won that period 26-13 extending their advantage to 14 points. They made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Blusens Monbus outrebounded Valencia Basket 34-23 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Gabonese forward Stephane Lasme (203-82, college: Massachusetts) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Alberto Corbacho (201-84) chipped in 20 points. Blusens Monbus' coach Moncho Fernandez used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Niklas Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: Beo Basket) who recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds and French guard Nando De Colo (202-87) added 12 points respectively. Blusens Monbus moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with UCAM Murcia and Fuenlabrada. Loser Valencia Basket dropped to the fourth position with 14 games lost. Blusens Monbus will face higher ranked CAI Zaragoza (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valencia Basket will play against Blancos de Rueda (#18) in Valladolid.
