Third-ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (19-9) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (24-4) on Wednesday. The visitors from Hermosillo managed to secure only three-point victory 108-105. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 23-17 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 0-point victory in double-overtime. Rayos de Hermosillo outrebounded Tijuana Zonkeys 47-32 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Brian Hamilton (198-82, college: La-Lafayette) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) contributed with 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) replied with 36 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 7 assists and power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa, agency: Edge Sports) added 18 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Tijuana Zonkeys. Four Rayos de Hermosillo and five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rayos de Hermosillo have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 24-4 record. Tijuana Zonkeys lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third place with nine games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will face Caballeros de Culiacan (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
