An interesting game took place in Badalona, where higher ranked Meridiano Alicante (17-16) lost to eleventh ranked FIATC Joventut (16-17) in a road game 63-74 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by FIATC Joventut. Meridiano Alicante was better in second period 12-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. FIATC Joventut looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Pooh Jeter (179-83, college: Portland) who scored 14 points and 8 assists. American-Nigerian forward Derrick Obasohan (199-81, college: Texas Arlington, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 13 points. FIATC Joventut's coach Salvador Maldonado allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Bulgarian forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized American power forward Lamont Barnes (208-78, college: Temple) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for FIATC Joventut. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with CAI Zaragoza and Unicaja. Meridiano Alicante lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with 16 games lost. FIATC Joventut will face league's second-placed Real Madrid on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
