Regular Season Round 33: Benetton TV - EA7 Armani 76-84
Date: May 2, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Benetton Treviso (13-18) was defeated at home by third ranked Armani Milano (21-10) 84-76 on Wednesday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-19. But Benetton Treviso won second period 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American-Montenegrin point guard Omar-Sharif Cook (186-82, college: St.John's, agency: Beo Basket) stepped up and scored 23 points and 6 assists for the winners and Greek center Ioannis Bourousis (212-83, agency: FCM) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Armani Milano's coach Sergio Scariolo allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Austrian power forward Benjamin Ortner (206-83, college: Metro St.) with 17 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American forward Jeffrey Viggiano (197-84, college: Massachusetts) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Armani Milano have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Bennet Cantu. Loser Benetton Treviso keeps the tenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Angelico BI and Vanoli CR. Armani Milano will meet at home Angelico Biella (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Benetton Treviso will play against Vanoli-Braga in Cremona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
