Regular Season Round 33: Gescrap BB - Unicaja 80-83

Important game to mention about took place in Bilbao. Eleventh ranked Unicaja Malaga (16-17) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Gescrap BB (19-14) 83-80 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gescrap BB. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gescrap BB won fourth quarter 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Unicaja Malaga made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Gescrap BB was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for British forward Joel Freeland (208-87) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 9 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Croatian power forward Luka Zoric (211-84) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Unicaja Malaga players scored in double figures. Greek swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84, agency: FCM) answered with 23 points (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and Croatian forward Marko Banic (205-84) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Gescrap BB. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Unicaja Malaga moved-up to ninth place, which they share with CAI Zaragoza and FIATC Joventut. Gescrap BB at the other side keeps the fourth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Valencia. Unicaja Malaga will play against higher ranked Cajasol (#7) in Sevilla in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gescrap BB will play on the road against Caja Laboral in Vitoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
