Very important is a home loss of third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (19-10) against fifth ranked Frayles de Guasave (15-14) on Friday night. Host Tijuana Zonkeys were defeated by Frayles de Guasave in a tough game in Tijuana 78-84. Tijuana Zonkeys were ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 26-19 charge of Frayles de Guasave, which allowed them to win the game. They made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Frayles de Guasave forced 20 Tijuana Zonkeys turnovers. American guard Russell Carter (196-85, college: Notre Dame) nailed 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and naturalized Panamanian forward Gabriel Giron (192-88) accounted for 22 points. Tijuana Zonkeys lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the third position with ten games lost. Frayles de Guasave will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tijuana Zonkeys will play again at home against Frayles de Guasave and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
