The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Trotamundos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Trotamundos defeated 3rd placed Gigantes in Valencia 101-89. The game was mostly controlled by Trotamundos. Gigantes managed to win third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trotamundos held Gigantes to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. 29 personal fouls committed by Gigantes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Gigantes' coach Carl Herrera rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Trotamundos have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Marinos. Gigantes at the other side keep the third place with six games lost. Gigantes will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Trotamundos will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Marinos in Puerto La Cruz.
