Regular Season Round 33: Quimper - Nantes 66-82

There was no surprise when 17th ranked Quimper UJAP (9-24) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked Nantes (14-19) 82-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Nantes. Quimper UJAP managed to win second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nantes dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Quimper UJAP's 20. Nantes forced 20 Quimper UJAP turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Armand Charles (193-83) stepped up and scored 15 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Senegalese forward Elson Mendy (200-85) chipped in 18 points. Nantes' coach Guillaume Quintard used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Liberian-American Pele Paelay (193-84, college: Co.Carolina, agency: Two Points) with 17 points and 4 steals and Aurelien Salmon (204-87) scored 13 points. Nantes maintains thirteenth place with 14-19 record. Loser Quimper UJAP keeps the seventeenth position with 24 games lost. Nantes will meet league's leader Limoges CSP Elite on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Quimper UJAP will play against Olympique Antibes (#12) and hope to secure a win.
