No shocking result in a game when third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (20-10) defeated at home 5th ranked Frayles de Guasave (15-15) 105-93. It looked good early as Frayles de Guasave took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tijuana Zonkeys took control winning next two quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 12 points. They made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Tijuana Zonkeys forced 21 Frayles de Guasave turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for American power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa, agency: Edge Sports) who led his team to a victory with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. The other American import swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) contributed with 28 points and 5 steals for the winners. The former international swingman Alonso Izaguirre (200-76) replied with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Dallas Green (203-88, college: Robert Morris) added 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Frayles de Guasave. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains third position with 20-10 record having six points less than leader Hermosillo. Frayles de Guasave at the other side keeps the fifth place with 15 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Pioneros Los Mochis (#6) on the road in the next round. Frayles de Guasave will play against Mineros de Cananea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
