Regular Season Round 31: Los Mochis - Tijuana 89-84

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (20-11) against seventh ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (15-16) on Wednesday night. Visiting Tijuana Zonkeys were defeated by Pioneros Los Mochis in a tough game in Los Mochis 84-89. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-21. But Tijuana Zonkeys won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American forward Seth Scott (208-81, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. His fellow American import forward Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) helped adding 23 points. At the losing side American power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and the former international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) scored 17 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Pioneros Los Mochis and five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Guasave and Nogales. Tijuana Zonkeys at the other side keep the third position with 11 games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis will again play against higher ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round.
