Fuerza Guinda Nogales managed to secure a 9-point victory 92-83 on Friday. Mineros de Cananea was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Mineros de Cananea 41-23 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) nailed 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and international forward Michael Strobbe (201-85) accounted for 17 points and 13 rebounds. American forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Davin White (186-81, college: CS Northridge) added 16 points and 7 assists respectively for Mineros de Cananea in the defeat. Five Fuerza Guinda Nogales and four Mineros de Cananea players scored in double figures. Mineros de Cananea's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Fuerza Guinda Nogales. They moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Mineros de Cananea dropped to the fifth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Guasave. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will again meet at home Mineros de Cananea (#5) in the next round. Mineros de Cananea will have a break next round.
