No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Nea Kifisia (17-12) edged 13th ranked Periko/Arhelaos (12-17) in Athens 65-62 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Periko/Arhelaos won third quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nea Kifisia forced 22 Periko/Arhelaos turnovers. Periko/Arhelaos was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Filippos Moschovitis (190-78) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Thodoris Sioutis (200-80) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Dimitrios Marmarinos (205-76, college: Nevada) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and guard Kostas Bechlivanis (180-74) added 14 points in the effort for Periko/Arhelaos. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Nea Kifisia maintains fifth place with 17-12 record. Loser Periko/Arhelaos keeps the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Nea Kifisia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena AEK.
