Regular Season Round 29: Apollon Patras - Pagrati 81-95

There was an upset when second-ranked Apollon Patras (20-9) lost at home to twelfth ranked Pagrati (13-16) 95-81 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Pagrati. Apollon Patras was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Apollon Patras was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Giannis Dimakos (194-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!). Center Apostolos Koutroulias (206-76) contributed with 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Serbian swingman Vladimir Petrovic-Stergiou (198-77, agency: BeoExcell) answered with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Ioannis Lianos (201-85) added 23 points in the effort for Apollon Patras. Four Apollon Patras players scored in double figures. Apollon Patras' coach rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pagrati have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Amyntas Dafnis. Loser Apollon Patras keeps the second position with nine games lost. Pagrati will face league's leader Panelefsiniakos in Eleusina in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Apollon Patras will play on the road against OFI in Heraklion.
