Regular Season Round 34: Tepic - Hermosillo 95-101

Date: May 12, 2012
CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (28-4) added another victory to their record. This time they beat tenth ranked Coras de Tepic (2-30) 101-95. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Coras de Tepic won fourth quarter 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and naturalized American point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) supported him with 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even a triple-double of 33 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 10 assists by American center Deangelo Riley (205, college: Azusa Pacific) did not help to save the game for Coras de Tepic. His fellow American import forward Ray Reese (196-87, college: Tulsa) added 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Five Rayos de Hermosillo and four Coras de Tepic players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo have an impressive 18-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 28-4 record. Coras de Tepic lost ninth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 30 lost games. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Garra Canera de Navolato (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Coras de Tepic will play against Pioneros Los Mochis and hopes to get back on the winning track.
