Ferro-ZNTU exploded with impressive 127 points to take down Budivelnyk in the consolation final series opener. The game was mostly controlled by Ferro-ZNTU. Budivelnyk managed to win fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ferro-ZNTU shot 62.3 percent from the field and made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 63.3 percentage. 26 personal fouls committed by Budivelnyk helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) fired 45 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. Montenegrin-Bosnian swingman Suad Sehovic (197-87) produced 25 points and 6 rebounds and Dominican guard Luis Flores (188-81, college: Manhattan) added 19 points (made all of his seven free throws) respectively for lost side. Four Ferro-ZNTU and five Budivelnyk players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
