An interesting game for Ostioneros de Guaymas (27-10) which played road game in Cananea against 4th placed Mineros de Cananea (18-19). Second ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas managed to get a 8-point victory 105-97. Mineros de Cananea was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Ostioneros de Guaymas dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Mineros de Cananea's 40. It was a great shooting night for Ostioneros de Guaymas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. American players dominated the game. Guard Haakim Johnson (201-87, college: Pikeville) nailed 25 points for the winning side and forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and guard Davin White (186-81, college: CS Northridge) added 30 points respectively for Mineros de Cananea in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains second place with 27-10 record having six points less than leader Hermosillo. Mineros de Cananea lost fifth consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the fifth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Los Mochis. Ostioneros de Guaymas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mineros de Cananea will play again against the league's second-placed Ostioneros de Guaymas (#2) and hope to secure a win.
