Round 7 in NBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in where host Guangzhou FM (4-3) beat league's leader Hebei (5-2) 105-95 on Tuesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Guangzhou FM. Hebei managed to win third quarter 33-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guangzhou FM forced 22 Hebei turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Guangzhou FM made 9 blocks. American forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) fired a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 20 rebounds and 8 blocks for the winners. Guard KaiFu Yao (196-83) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M, agency: N.E.T.) produced a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 22 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 16-of-21 shooting from the field) and guard TingYu Yin (197-89) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hebei's coach Jinlin Zhou rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Guangzhou FM maintains fifth place with 4-3 record, which they share with Hong Kong. Hebei at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Guangzhou L. who have the same record. Hebei will play next round against strong Changan Group trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Guangzhou FM will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Heilongjiang at home.
