The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Rain or Shine as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Rain or Shine defeated 7th ranked Meralco Bolts in Manila 81-77. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 49-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Rain or Shine dominated on the defensive end, holding Meralco Bolts to just 3 points in third quarter. 29 personal fouls committed by Meralco Bolts helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities.
