There was no surprise when 8th ranked Sichuan (5-11) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Jiangsu (10-5) 100-83. The game without a history. Jiangsu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sichuan's 36. They outrebounded Sichuan 57-24 including a 44-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jiangsu players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Sichuan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 26 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Xin Feng (187-92) supported him with 23 points and 5 assists. Four Jiangsu players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 5 rebounds by center XiaoDong Chen (207-86) did not help to save the game for Sichuan. Forward XiaoBin He (198-86) added 10 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Jiangsu moved-up to third place. Sichuan at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Jiangsu's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Henan Jiyuan (#10) and are hoping to win another game. Sichuan will play against Nanjin Army and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
