Very important is a road loss of third ranked Powerade T. (4-4) against eighth ranked Meralco Bolts (4-4) on Sunday night. Visiting Powerade T. was defeated by Meralco Bolts in Manila 91-78. It looked good early as Powerade T. took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Meralco Bolts had a 22-18 second period charge getting the lead and Powerade T. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-91. Meralco Bolts had a 37-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American guard Mario West (195-84, college: Georgia Tech) nailed 29 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Mark Cardona (180-81) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Meralco Bolts players scored in double figures. American forward Omar Sneed (198-76, college: Memphis) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Gary David (187-78) added 20 points respectively for Powerade T. in the defeat. Powerade T.'s coach Dolreich Perasol rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Meralco Bolts moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Powerade T. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
