Regular Season Round 1: Corr.Victoria - Huracanes 84-78

Everything could happen in Ciudad Victoria at the game between two tied teams. Both leader Correcaminos and bottom-ranked Huracanes had identical 0-0 record. This time Correcaminos used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Tampico 84-78 on Tuesday night. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Correcaminos outrebounded Huracanes 43-31 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated also this game. Quite impressive performance for forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds. Swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Anthony Johnson (197-79, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Huracanes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Correcaminos (1-0) keep a position of league leader, which they share with 7 other teams. Loser Huracanes still closes the standings with one game lost. Correcaminos will face Pioneros (#7) in Cancun in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Huracanes will play on the road against Soles in Mexicali.
