Regular Season Round 2: Gansos - Barreteros 71-104
Date: September 6, 2012
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Barreteros and bottom-ranked Gansos had identical 0-1 record. But Gansos were not able to use a home court advantage and were smashed by the opponent from Zacatecas 104-71 on Thursday night. The game without a history. Barreteros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Gansos' 30. Barreteros forced 22 Gansos turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 76.5 percentage. American guard Jason Horton (188-86, college: Missouri) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 4 assists. Guard Raul Navarro (192-84) contributed with 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Horton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Barreteros players scored in double figures. American CamRon Clay (203-82) replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) and his fellow American import guard Devin Chambers (188-86, college: S.Maine) added 21 points in the effort for Gansos. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Barreteros (1-1) left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with 7 other teams. Newly promoted Gansos still closes the standings with two games lost. Barreteros will face Guerreros (#8) in the next round. Gansos will play against the league's second-placed Panteras (#2) in Aguascalientes.
