Regular Season Round 3: Guerreros - Barreteros 71-83

Round 3 most important game was a victory of Barreteros over 8th ranked Guerreros 83-71 on Saturday night. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a good game for forward Christopher Silva who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Jason Horton (188-86, college: Missouri) contributed with 16 points and 9 assists for the winners. Horton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Barreteros players scored in double figures. American forward Chris Kaba (203-88, college: N.Colorado) answered with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Travis Gabbidon (201, college: UTSA) added 16 points in the effort for Guerreros. Guerreros' coach Marcelo Elusich rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Barreteros (2-1) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Halc.Rojos and Fuerza Regia. Newly promoted Guerreros keep the eighth position with two games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Barreteros is looking forward to face Fuerza Regia (#6) in Monterrey in the next round. Guerreros will play on the road against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
