Regular Season Round 3: Gansos - Panteras 72-91

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Gansos (0-3) were smashed at home by leader Panteras (3-0) 91-72. The game was mostly controlled by Panteras. Gansos was better in third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panteras dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Gansos' 44 and made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Panteras forced 19 Gansos turnovers. It was a great evening for American power forward Lee Nailon (205-75, college: TCU) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. The former international swingman Jorge Alfredo Casillas (196-90) helped adding 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American CamRon Clay (203-82) with 22 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Devin Chambers (188-86, college: S.Maine) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panteras have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Gansos still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Gigantes and Lechugueros. Panteras will play against Toros (#4) in Nuevo Laredo in the next round. Gansos will play on the road against Huracanes (#12) in Tampico and look forward to get finally their first victory.
