Regular Season Round 3: Soles - Corr.Victoria 82-60

There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Soles (1-2) outplayed higher ranked Correcaminos (1-2) in Mexicali 82-60. It looked good early as Correcaminos took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Soles had a 27-19 second period charge getting the lead and Correcaminos were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-82. Soles players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Correcaminos' players. It was a great evening for the former international forward Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points. American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington, agency: SportsTalent) helped adding 17 points. Coach Ivan Deniz's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American center Deangelo Riley (205, college: Azusa Pacific) with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Soles left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Correcaminos. Soles will play against league's leader Halcones UV Xalapa on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Correcaminos will play against Guerreros (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
