Regular Season Round 3: Toros - Abejas 83-75
Date: September 9, 2012
Very predictable result when leader Toros (3-0) won against 11th ranked Abejas (1-2) in Nuevo Laredo 83-75. It looked good early as Abejas took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toros had a 20-15 second period charge getting the lead and Abejas were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-83. Toros had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Abejas were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). International point guard Brody Angley (180-86, college: Santa Clara, agency: JEMsports) helped adding 17 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Toros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Eugene Phelps (198, college: Long Beach St.) with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195, college: W.Kentucky) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Abejas' coach Daniel Jaule tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Toros have a solid series of three victories in a row.
