Regular Season Round 4: Lechugueros - Gigantes 88-85

Lechugueros has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Gigantes (0-4) 88-85. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gigantes won fourth quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lechugueros players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Jermaine Walker (198-77, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Lechugueros players scored in double figures. Lechugueros' coach Harold Arceneaux used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Sam Liggins (178, college: Alders.-Broad.) replied with 24 points and 5 assists and British V.Islands-Vincentian center John Gardiner (203-83, college: Sam Houston St.) added 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Gigantes. Lechugueros (1-3) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. It was Gigantes' fourth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with four games lost. Lechugueros' next round opponent will be Osos (#13). Gigantes will play against Abejas in Guanajuato and hope to get finally their first victory.
